  1. Mary Flatley says:

    Dear Library,

As a 1984 graduate of Half Hollow Hills High School East, I took several courses which required reading great books such as Pride and Prejudice and Fahrenheit 454.

I particularly remember enjoying reading the novel 1984, written by British author George Orwell. In this truly inventive novel, Orwell describes a world in which mind control is employed, obliterating for all purposes democracy and freedom of thought.

1984 is a book which is timeless, in all respects. It resonates in today’s world, as it resonated in the middle part of the 20th century when it was written.
