Have you tried downloading audio books to your computer? It is easy to do from the LIbrary’s web site. You can then listen from your computer or transfer the book to your mp3 player. Just ask a librarian how to set up your account and get started.
Right now we have the titles available from the Recorded Books Company. You may already have borrowed their books on tape or CD. Their readings are of excellent quality and you will be able to listen on the go! If you have an adaptor for your car you can even listen as you commute.
Our goal is always to provide 24/7 convenience and access to as much of our library collection as possible. Give it a try!

Summer is officially over. School has started and our summer busyness has turned into after school busyness. Come and see what’s new! We are adding new materials all the time; best sellers, old favorites, newly released films and music. Or just come to read the newspaper or the latest magazine.
We expect to have totally new library cards sometime this fall. A new design and a keychain addition for people on the go! Please be sure to bring your library card every time you come to the library to borrow materials. We take your privacy seriously and in this day and age, identity theft is a growing problem, even with a library card. And having your card will speed up the whole process.
For those patrons with visual problems we have a new Merlin reader/magnifier. Come and check it out! We also have the special software, ZoomText to make surfing the Internet an easier experience.
If you have any questions or if there is something we can do for you, please let us know. There are yellow suggestion forms you can fill out or email the director at mlauerba@suffolk.lib.ny.us.

We continue to connect with you!
Our Youth Services librarians now have AOL Instant Messenger loaded on their desktops and are waiting for some IM’s to come through. Add them to your Buddy List so you always have a librarian handy: hhhkidlib1, hhhkidlib2, or hhhkidlib3.
You don’t need AOL to use AIM. Just download AIM here, or use AIM Express.
They’ll accept quick questions with simple answers, if you need more call or stop by.

If reading thrills you more than chocolate, the librarian is your best friend. Come talk to us and ask for recommendations, or if you’re shy, we’ve got lots of resources at your fingertips.
Try Novelist first: click on the tab labeled For Readers and get book lists, read-alikes, and favorites from other librarians (they’re good too!) You may need to enter your library card and PIN first.
We’re going to be subscribing to NextReads soon, but you can get a sneak preview by clicking on ”Trial” and let us know what you think. You will be able to subscribe to an email service that will highlight new books, look at some older titles, and link you right into our catalog so you can reserve them right away.
And if that’s not enough, browse our readers’ advisor page for more ideas.
So relax and read! We’re in the business of connecting you to good stories and good information.
